Most people perceive themselves as separate individuals with their life story, identity, and body image. We have associated human beings with this restrictive mental construct. This self-perception prevails in humanity and is the most harmful and dangerous on an individual and collective level.
The topic of being yourself is one of the most misunderstood topics in the field of counseling and psychology. The word "self" can have various interpretations without being precisely defined, with the central meaning often being interpreted as "do what you like without caring about what others think."
Many spiritual teachers often say, "You are already awakened, you don't need to do anything." However, this can be easily misinterpreted and one might think they no longer need to study the teaching, meditate, practice mindfulness, etc.
You can understand that you are on the right path of self-discovery and spirituality by observing certain signs and changes within yourself.
Several scientific studies have been conducted to demonstrate the numerous health benefits of meditation. Various meditation techniques have been examined, each with distinct effects on different aspects: morphophysiological (such as the impact on brain structure), mental (including memory improvement), and behavioral (such as enhanced sociability).
It's easy to misunderstand the nature of awareness and self-discovery. Many individuals deal with misconceptions and false expectations that arise from incomplete understanding. Some may even believe that gaining insight into our true nature will eliminate all life's challenges.
Spiritual awakening is the realization that thoughts, sensations, or perceptions cannot determine the true nature of one's self. All thoughts, sensations, and perceptions are objects that appear and disappear within the field of awareness.
